Cranberry season is here!!!! I just picked up two jumbo bags and I am ready to start making a zillion and one cranberry flavored recipes.

My first order of business is to make a big ole batch of cranberry sauce. I put it in EVERYTHING.

Usually I’ll start my day with a fluffy Cranberry Sauce Muffin I had just made the most delicious batch of granola and it was time for a tasty pivot.

Time for a yummy yogurt bowl!

Q: Can I use Any Cranberry Sauce?

Any leftover cranberry sauce that isn’t a jar of jello/jellied sauce will work great! Whether it’s smooth, pureed, or whole berry sauce, it’ll be a delicious addition to this yogurt and granola bowl.

I wrote up this recipe as a way to use up leftover cranberry sauce, since this time of year we will be knee deep in the stuff but in case you don’t actually have leftover cranberry sauce to play with yet and still want to try this delicious yogurt bowl combo, no worries!

I have a few recipes on the blog (Crockpot Cranberry Sauce + Speedy Stovetop Cranberry Sauce) and i’ll include a recipe at the bottom of this blog post as well.

Q: What granola should I use?

You can use either homemade or store bought granola for your bowl!

The granola I had on hand was super simple Healthy Homemade Granola Recipe <— it’s a total breeze to throw together and has tons of rave reviews!

Easy Granola Topped Cranberry Yogurt Bowl

The ingredients for this easy peasy granola bowl are super simple. We’ll start with a base of your favorite yogurt. You can opt for regular or Greek yogurt (my fav) and use either plain or vanilla yogurt.

Next add some luscious leftover cranberry sauce, a hearty sprinkle of homemade or store bought granola (see post above for the links to some rockin’ recipes) and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Optional extras include honey for some added sweetness, nuts for crunch and flavor (if your granola didn’t have any and you’d like to add some) and any healthy extras like flax, chia, or coconut. Have fun with it!

OPTIONAL TOPPINGS – choose your favorites

  • Grab your favorite flavor of yogurt and add it to a bowl. Plain, vanilla, and honey all work well the cranberry but you can opt for a fruit flavor like lemon too if you’d like!

  • Add cranberry sauce and swirl it into the yogrt. Top with granola and a little sprinkle of cinnamon.

  • Round out your bowl by adding any optional extras your heart desires. Have fun with it and enjoy!

This rockin’ recipe serves one but can easily be doubled, tripled, or quadrupled to feed your crew.

Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Here’s a speedy stovetop cranberry sauce using a 12 ounce bag of cranberries:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (add to taste)
  • orange zest (optional) to taste

Instructions

Bring sugar, orange juice, and water to a boil in a small saucepan. Mix well and add cranberries.

Once they return to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until most of the cranberries have burst, approx. 10 min. Remove from heat and season with cinnamon and optional orange zest to taste.

For a whole berry cranberry sauce, you’re all done! For a smoother sauce, mash with a fork, potato masher, or follow my lead and use an immersion blender (or any blender/processor really) to blend the sauce until smooth.
