Cucumber Dip – Peas and Crayons

This tasty make-ahead Cucumber Dip will have you happily scarfing your veggies! It’s a great cold dip for veggie platters and makes a fantastic snack or appetizer.

Cucumber Dip – Peas and Crayons

Not to be confused with Tzatziki dip, which is a Greek style dip made with greek yogurt and cucumbers, this cool cucumber dip is a super flavorful sour cream based party dip that tastes absolutely phenomenal with cucumbers dipped into it.

It’s so delicious!

The medley of garlic, onion, and dill flavors will have you coming back for more and the fact that it’s best made in advance makes it fantastic for weekly snack meal prep or advance party prep as an appetizer.

Serve it for your next party or potluck and watch it vanish FAST!

Everyone always asks for the recipe for this delish dip and it’s so super easy to make.

Make-AHEAD Cool Cucumber Dip

I’ve been making this delish dip for over a decade and always forget to snap photos for the blog. I know, I’m the worst. But today that changes!

You probably already have all the dip ingredients chilling in your fridge and pantry so, without further ado, let’s make some dip!

  • Combine all ingredients and mix well.

  • Place dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator overnight.

  • The real deliciousness happens when the herbs and spices get up close and personal in the fridge and have time to soften and amplify the flavors. Trust me, it’s exponentially better if you let it chill in the fridge overnight. It’s science. Delicious, edible science!

  • This tasty dip will stay fresh and delicious for up to 4 days in the fridge. Serve with fresh sliced cucumbers and your choice of additonal dippers and enjoy!

Have fresh dill handy? You’re welcome to use that in place of dried! With fresh dill you’ll add an extra teaspoon or two for the same flavor profile as dried. Adjust to taste and you’re good to go!
Full-fat mayo and sour cream is essential here for dip flavor and texture. A little fat paired with vegetables is essential for better absorbing certain antioxidants and vitamins anyways.
Nutrition Facts below are estimated per 2 TBSP serving dip using an online recipe nutrition calculator. Adjust as needed based on choice of dippers and portion chosen.

Delicious Dippers to serve with cucumber dip

Of course the name is a dead giveaway that you should be prepared to scarf copious amounts of cucumber with this dip! I like using english cucumbers or the smaller persian cucumbers because they have less and smaller seeds, but any cucumber you enjoy will work great! Leave the skin on for extra fiber or peel the cucumbers first (great for picky friends and family members) and get ready to faceplant!

Here are some other dippers that taste amazing with this chilled cuke dip:

  • ruffles potato chips
  • assorted crackers
  • pretzels
  • pita chips
  • carrots
  • bell pepper slices
  • broccoli
  • cauliflower
  • celery sticks
  • cherry tomatoes
  • radish slices
  • and so much more!
