You’ve seen our vegetable garden dozens (hundreds?) of times, right? Well, it’s high time I give you a flower garden tour. I did one in the spring but the garden always goes through a transformation throughout the seasons. So that’s the topic of this week’s video!
As I explain in the introduction, my husband Bill and I live on 5 acres in Spokane, Wash. Our hardiness zone is 5b and it’s been such a fun journey seeing what would grow well here. And, of course, I absolutely love flowers so I always plant all sorts of annuals. But you’ll see much more than that: flowering shrubs, roses, native plants and a host of perennials.
In case you’re wondering, we have “only” landscaped about 2 of those 5 acres. Thank goodness we stopped when we did! But it’s been a labor of love, plus it’s great exercise.
These are the areas you’ll see:
- Backyard, which includes two island beds and perimeter beds
- The Trellis Garden – wait till you see the cool annuals I’m growing! Many brand-new varieties, including All-America Selections winners.
- The Rose Garden – which includes a hydrangea, ‘Aphrodite’ sweetshrub, David Austin English Roses and perennials.
- Our side yard where our wonderful ‘Vanilla Strawberry hydrangea. Boy is it blooming its little heart out!
- Front flower bed
- Pollinator garden
- Front porch garden. Don’t miss this part because I have an important tip about using cocoa fiber liners in hanging baskets.
And here is my Summer Flower Garden Tour:
I hope you enjoyed the video. Did you know I have 600+ gardening videos on my YouTube channel? I also have a playlist of my Flower Gardening videos so you can pick and choose what you’d like to watch.
