Happy New Year, everybody! It’s time for my first video of 2026 and it’s all about wonderful vegetable varieties. In it, I share which ones we’re going to grow this year. These include both tried-and true varieties and ones we’re going to grow for the first time.
I thought this video would be helpful because the number of veggie varieties can be overwhelming. I know a lot of folks want me to grow all sorts of brand-new varieties. You know, as your personal tester! But when I’ve found ones that do well and taste great, I stick with them.
You’ll also hear about some wonderful varieties that are well-suited for growing during the fall and winter months. This includes hardy arugula, kale, lettuce and cabbage. For example, I’ll be trying ‘Tiara’ cabbage later this year for the first time.
At the beginning of this video, I point you to a helpful resource on my website. I’ve created a chart called “Bill & Susan’s Garden for 2026,” which is under the “Guides” menu. Here’s a direct link to it. You’ll see all sorts of seed sources for each variety. As I mention in the video, be sure to also support your local garden centers! After all, they won’t stay in business if we don’t, right?
I also have a chart of links to various seed sources and garden suppliers on my website. And, last but not least, don’t forget that I created a huge FREE online guide called Grow Vegetables. Once you’re there, scroll down to the vegetable crop chart and select the growing guide you want to read.
Here’s my “Wonderful Vegetable Varieties” video:
I hope the video was helpful for you and gave you lots of ideas. As I mentioned in it, I’m going to shoot a series of videos to help you grow a great garden. Stay tuned!
Did you know that I have over 600 videos on my YouTube channel? And if you’re specifically looking for ones on growing vegetables, here’s a link to my vegetable videos playlist. My goal is to help you be successful!
